Qualifications & experience
- Demonstrated production management experience in a professional technical production environment, with much of that experience relating to live theatre and touring.
- A passion for live theatre and a desire to contribute to the technical excellence of each production.
- Project management skills including demonstrated organisational, time management and prioritisation skills, and the ability to manage the demands of several productions simultaneously, prioritising jobs frequently and effectively.
- Demonstrated high level leadership ability in a challenging work environment including conflict management and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and inspire a medium sized team of crew while always promoting the best interests of the company.
- Demonstrated high level skills in managing all facets of local venue crewing and maintaining company standards while in difficult touring environments.
- A broad (preferably detailed) knowledge of the workings of all technical departments including audio, lighting, video and sound and an at least basic knowledge of current technology and trends.
- Ability to draft advanced technical drawings in VectorWorks (or equivalent drawing program). Advanced skills with computerised event management systems experience desirable including Microsoft Word, Excel.
- Good working relationships with production hire companies and suppliers.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Responsible for the creation, distribution, implementation and storage of all production schedules and associated documents for mainstage productions.
- Provide high level production management services across all shake & stir theatre co productions
- Work closely with a full time Technical Manager and Company and Tour Manager under the guidance of the company’s Artistic Directors.
- Interpret and communicate the artistic requirements of productions into cost effective technical solutions resolving any issues that slow progress.
- Manage load ins and load outs, both in Brisbane and various tour locations. This is a hands-on role and you will be expected to tour across certain performance seasons and major national tours to ensure successful delivery.
- Provide a single point interface for technical production services for all home and national venues, local crew and shake & stir staff.
- Work with the management team, technical crews and design teams ensuring delivery is on time, on budget and safe.
