Reporting to the Forge Theatre and Arts Hub Manager, the Operations Officer will oversee the daily operations of the theatre, ensuring that a high standard of operation, presentation and customer service are maintained. Working closely with the Front of House Team Leader and the Forge Theatre and Arts Hub Manager, this role will primarily focus on managing relationships with production companies and other client groups, supporting human resources functions within the team, maintaining the presentation and functionality of the facility, and performing various administrative functions.
This part-time role (0.4 EFT / 15.2 hours per week) is for a limited tenure until 31 December 2023.
Your contribution to our team
- The quality delivery of booking and contracting of performances and events to be presented at and by The Forge Theatre and Arts Hub.
- Liaising with and meeting the administrative needs of producers and coordinating the use of the Forge Theatre and Arts Hub facilities.
- Scheduling and rostering resources to meet event requirements in liaison with Box office and the Front of House Team leader and Theatre Technician.
- Coordinating public area activities, cleaning, and maintenance to ensure the quality of facilities meets hygiene and safety requirements as well as audience and producer needs and expectations.
- Liaising with Councilās Works department to coordinate building maintenance and service contractors to ensure safe and reliable operation of plant and equipment.
What we are looking for (Key Selection Criteria)
Essential
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of theatre operations and the performing arts.
- Demonstrated experience in performance and event administration and coordination.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise teams and coordinate resources.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively as part of a team as well as independently in a supervisory role.
- A current Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate is required.
- A current Safe Food Handling Certificate and demonstrated experience in the safe storage and preparation of food stuffs.
- A current, valid Victorian driverās license is required.
- A current, valid First Aid Level 2 Certificate.
Desirable
- Experience in cash handling and end of day procedures.
- Experience in Liquor Bar Operations and stock ordering.
- Certification and/or experience in Emergency Management.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake police check and hold a current, valid employee Working with Children Check. Applicants for this position must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
