Theatre Operations Manager

Newington College is seeking to appoint a permanent, part-time Theatre Operations Manager. The role will work 32 hours per week for 48 weeks per year. The majority of the responsibilities will be performed during term time, however, oversight of venue hire will be a responsibility of this role that will fall during school holidays.

This role will work across many areas of Theatre within the College including;

  • Technical oversight of productions and events
  • Management of internal booking of Drama Theatre & Old Chapel bookings
  • Oversight of WHS Compliance
  • Student Training & Pathways
  • Business development of increasing community engagement to promote external hire of The Drama Theatre & Old Chapel
  • Oversight of the technical requirements of various venues and events in the School in addition to the Drama Theatre

Applicants are expected to be an industry professional with a commitment to producing quality theatre. A significant part of the role involves the nurture and development of students who are interested in theatre production. Applicants should be passionate about developing students’ interests in the area of theatre design and production.

The College recognises that different applicants will bring different skill sets to the role and expects the successful candidate to apply these skills in their role as Theatre Operations

About you:

It would be expected that the successful candidate would;

  • a minimum of 5 years industry experience
  • NSW WHS certification
  • the ability to collaborate effectively with staff members from all departments of the College
  • a genuine appreciation and commitment to working with the boys
  • a willingness to work towards attaining certification as identified by Newington College
  • a Diploma of Education or equivalent (desirable but not necessary)
  • a current NSW Driver’s License (desirable but not necessary)
