Theatre Head Technical Operator – Staging

Reporting to the Theatre Technical Manager the position of Theatre Head Technical Operator – Staging is responsible for overseeing all staging aspects back of house within Crown Perth Theatre.

Liaising with clients, suppliers, production houses and tour managers; you will ensure efficiency, professionalism and customer satisfaction. You will oversee all staging staff and be responsible for the installation, operation (Duty Tech, Manual Flying, Rigging) and dismantling of shows for internal and external clients. You will be responsible for regular maintenance of equipment and hardware onsite as well as updating maintenance/training registers.

The successful candidate will have the following;

  • Minimum of five to ten years technical experience within a Theatre environment
  • Experience leading and motivating teams to ensure effective delivery of services within the operation
  • Experience in administrative tasks including rostering, budget management and register maintenance.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively negotiate with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in working with a variety of shows such as touring musicals, international events and A-list rock and roll artists.
  • Knowledge of touring production staging requirements
  • Organisational ability including time management, task prioritisation and resource scheduling while working towards tight deadlines
  • Relevant qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety & risk management
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, analyse problems, identify and implement appropriate solutions
  • Knowledge of local and national industry connections, suppliers and vendors.
  • Riggers ticket, Forklift License and/or other appropriate qualifications is desirable
  • Flexibility towards working hours as we are a 24/7 operation
