Theatre Design Technican

The position

Loreto Toorak is seeking an experienced and dynamic Theatre Design Technician to support our students and staff in the planning, development and creation of design components for our curriculum and theatre productions program. This role is offered as a full time ongoing role, term time only. 

Responsibilities of the role will include

  • Lead the design on a range of co-curricular productions across various year levels
  • Attend and support evening and weekend rehearsals and performances as required by the Head of Productions or Head of Performing Arts
  • Work closely with students on the design components of their work, particularly VCE Theatre Studies students on the Year 12 Play and their monologue examination
  • Maintain and organise costumes, properties, set, make-up, lighting, sound and technical equipment
  • Collaborate with a range of departments and stakeholders including Theatre Studies Teachers and the music department


About You

The successful candidate will ideally have qualifications in some form of theatrical design with demonstrated experience and knowledge in the area. Experience with sound, lighting and projection will be highly regarded. Your highly developed organisational and administrative skills coupled with excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach will be critical to success in the role. A WWCC (Employee) and First Aid qualifications are essential as is a working knowledge of OHS practices as they apply in a theatre productions setting. Flexibility with hours to attend productions and rehearsal is required.
