‘The Spirit of Churaki’ tells the story of an Aboriginal man, the Gold Coast’s first lifesaver who performed the first documented rescue of a swimmer in 1911.
The ‘Home of the Arts’, previously known as the Arts Centre Gold Coast, hosted the performance in their brand new outdoor amphitheatre, and it featured a mixture of traditional Aboriginal ceremony, language mixed with musical theatre.
Creative Productions were again brought on board to work with the HOTA production team and support the project with both an extensive lighting component alongside a complete video production package.
Lighting Designer Dan Black used 21 x GLP X4 Washes, 14 x Robe BMFL spots, 10 x TLC Global TourPro Tetris LED Wash as well as a further 6 x GLP GT1s. Creative Productions also took care of a site lighting requirement around the stalls and access areas which used RGB LED Festoon and TourPro Titan Washes.
The Video component of the event included a 9m x 4m 4.8mm pitch TourPro LED Screen alongside a three camera flyaway system.
