Now in its eighteenth year, BIGSOUND Festival is an annual opportunity to discover the future of Australian music. Running over four September days and nights, Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley comes alive with a global gathering of musicians, industry, brands, media and music lovers.
One of the projects Creative Productions were tasked with was creating a projected ‘advert’ comprising of the event’s logo. A complicated task for some but not Jeff Pavey who managed an incredible result with just ONE Ayrton Mistral-S.
“It actually blew me away how good they were,” he said. “We had to project onto a seven-story building from 80 metres away and I couldn’t believe how well the Mistral did it. It is so bright, three times brighter than the fixture we used last year.”
Mistral-S is equipped with an LED module that delivers powerful metallic white light with record-breaking output of 17,500 lumens and a colour temperature of 6,500K.
Initially Jeff chose to use a Mistral due to its reliability and LED engine as he leaves the light running for the entire week of the festival and as it’s located on a remote, inaccessible rooftop, he didn’t want to be servicing it.
Jeff was also impressed by the quality of the Mistral’s optics which ensure that his custom gobo projection is crisp and always flat.
“They also have great zoom, effects and colour mixing – the saturated colour you can get without losing brightness is incredible,” he added.
