The Footy Show debuts Martin MAC Quantum Washes

Andrew Veitch, Channel 9’s Lighting Supervisor, was thrilled to include thirty-two of the new Martin MAC Quantum Wash fixtures in his rig for the NRL Grand Final Footy Show.

The MAC Quantum Wash features tight beams, beautiful wash fields, a market-leading colour palette, and uniform mixing that combines to accommodate the most demanding applications, offering brightness and perfection. Combining an impressive 750 watt of RGBW LED power with Martin’s market leading optical system ensures that the 1:6 zoom on the MAC Quantum Wash operates with maximum output and superior performance.

The Quantum Washes on The Footy Show were positioned above the main stage to provide the main wash for the television spectacular. Alongside the Quantum Washes were thirty Martin MAC Viper Profiles.

“The Quantum Washes and Vipers worked together really nicely,” commented Andrew. “If I had been able to get more, I would have!”

A further twenty-two MAC Vipers were rigged on the outer trusses around the walkway from where, according to Andrew, they worked beautifully to come back into the room for the many music numbers.

“The MAC Quantum Wash is ideal for television as it is such a large, bold fixture,” continued Andrew. “As they are from Martin and are LED, you know you’re not going to get any dramas with them. This was important for us because once rigged, most of them were then inaccessible.

“The colour out of the MAC Quantum Wash is very nice, as are the effects. The zoom is simply beautiful; you can make the lamp look like a large really flat wash light, which is great for television, or you can zoom them so that they actually look like a spot fixture, without a gobo, from the ground. They deliver a really good beam combined with smoke – we used the new Martin 365 Haze machines which were great.”

Andrew also included over 100 Martin MAC101’s to light from behind the audience, and he reports that he didn’t have one problem with them.

“They’re a little work horse and one of my favourite lights,” he added.

Lighting was supplied by Chameleon Touring Systems.
