Technology Repair Technician

The Adelaide Convention Centre sits proudly in the Riverbank Precinct, which is rapidly evolving to create a vibrant hub for Adelaide, incorporating new research, health and medical centres, educational institutions, sport, entertainment, convention, and event facilities. A rare opportunity presents itself for an experienced repair technician to work with the best of Adelaide’s business, conferencing, and banqueting events.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced repair technician with a minimum 5years within the AV industry.  Their primary focus will be to assist the tech services department in repair and manufacture of equipment ranging from Audio Visual to event furniture. As an experienced AV professional, you will join our fast-paced team and work across our state-of-the-art venue. No two days will be the same and you will be instrumental in creating unforgettable experiences. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment repair, maintenance & storage system design for all Technology and Venue Operations resources
  • Develop & implement efficient use of equipment resources and transport mechanisms
  • Ensure compliance standards are met and detailed records kept for both electrical and rigging equipment / systems
  • Undertake the commission of capital procurements.
  • Supervision of installation projects and contractors.
  • Point of contact for receive and dispatch of Centre equipment and sub hired resources.
  • Upkeep of departmental consumable stocks and stores.
  • Conduct / supervise stocktakes and maintain accurate numerical relationship between available equipment resources and hire inventories.
  • Identify and facilitate efficiency gains in equipment flows between venues and events.

About you

  • Available to be rostered between normal business hours with occasional weekend work, dependent on the Corporation’s business levels
  • Previous experience in a repair / installation / project capacity from within the corporate AV sector essential
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical / electronic systems coupled to a skill base in one or more genres of the Entertainment Industry, with broad spectrum knowledge of the corporate AV and or entertainment systems
  • High level problem solving capability
  • Ability to mentor and/or train departmental staff
  • Well-developed deduction & decision making abilities
  • Ability to operate in both a supervisory and supervised role
  • Self-motivated, with a positive demeanour
  • Proactive and ‘solutions-focussed’
  • Flexible, punctual and reliable
  • Proven experience in an equipment service industry either in Entertainment or an allied industry
  • Trade level electrical / electronic or demonstrated period of comparable industry experience
