The Technician role works in close co-operation with the Technical Manager, Technical Coordinator, Concert and Event Managers, Stage Managers and casual staff to assist in affecting the delivery of Melbourne Recital Centre’s schedule of concerts and events to the highest international standard, ensuring a safe environment for all staff and visitors.
The core responsibilities include rigging and operation of lighting, sound, audio-visual, projection, staging and orchestral equipment in accordance with qualifications/competencies and maintaining the upkeep and safety of Melbourne Recital Centre equipment.
The successful candidates will have experience and skills in the following;
- Delivery of live international events such as amplified or acoustic concerts
- Technical setup and pack down as well as technical operations, is also desirable
- Working to tight schedules and time frames and still maintaining quality of work
- Interpreting written, diagramatic and verbal instruction in stage setups
We are specifically looking for lighting operators (MA), AV operators, and orchestral stage mechanists.
Successful candidates will also need to be prepared to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
