Adelaide Festival Centre operates four theatres in the Adelaide CBD – the Festival Theatre, Dunstan Playhouse, Space Theatre and the newly redeveloped Her Majesty’s Theatre.
About the vacancy
We are looking for two passionate individuals who are eager to commence their careers as Lighting, Sound or Staging Theatre Technicians.
This two-year traineeship program combines a formal qualification, industry recognised certification and practical experience working within the State Government of South Australia.
To be eligible to receive a traineeship and government subsidisation, candidates must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia. Ability and willingness to successfully undergo a standard medical, which will include a Drug & Alcohol Screen, Spirometry, and Audiometry assessment is also required.
These roles will commence in late January 2025.
What you’ll be doing
You will complete a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Live Production and Technical Services through Adelaide TAFE over 24 months through a combination of formal training and on-the-job experience with host employer, Adelaide Festival Centre.
This unique combination of formal education and work experience will qualify you to work in a range of Technical Theatre roles in Lighting, Sound or Staging, delivering live performances in Adelaide Festival Centre’s four theatres.
Responsibilities
- Participate in bump-ins and bump-outs
- Participate in rehearsals and performance
- Undertake maintenance and repair on technical equipment
- Appropriately store equipment
- Undertake department cleaning and housekeeping duties
- Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external clients
- Adhere to Work Health and Safety standards
