Technical Team Leader

The Technical Team Leader is responsible for leading a small team in providing all technical and production services of Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) and Wellington Civic Centre (WCC). This position provides guidance and service to the organisation and clients across Work Health and Safety, compliance, and maintenance of equipment and technical infrastructure of the venues. This person additionally has the skills to operate of audio, lighting, staging and vision equipment for shows and events, and as well as preparing the staff roster and technical estimates/final costings for each event at the Centres.

The venues deliver events ranging from national touring companies, local theatre groups, productions, events and conferences. Due to the nature of the role you will be required to work a 70 hour fortnight, with a roster including weekends, based on the events schedule.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Co-ordinating the technical and production services of DRTCC and WCC
  • Co-ordinating the planning and execution of shows, functions and events, ensuring effective project management of conflicting requirements for use of the venues and resources
  • Monitoring budget for technical operations
  • Maintaining technical equipment and infrastructure of the technical department
  • Ensuring WHS requirements are followed by users of DRTCC and WCC
  • Supervising your team and their duties ensuring that individual accountabilities and performance are monitored and achieved


WHAT YOU’LL BRING

You have a strong work ethic and value integrity. Your attention to detail allows you to maintain the high standards held by each venue. You are a skilled and motivated creative problem solver, with a diverse range of industry experience in entertainment, events or touring shows. You thrive working in a busy and fast paced environment.

Your excellent communication skills allow you to build strong professional relationships with stakeholders. You are a team player who is motivated and continually looks to contribute to a positive team culture.

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated practical experience in a similar technical/production Team Leader position
  • Demonstrated extensive technical knowledge, analytical skills and ability to operate to a high level of competency, manual and computerised lighting, audio, AV and flying systems
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Work Health and Safety (WHS), Risk Management and Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) issues in venues and events industries
  • Experience in supervising, cost effective rostering and training staff
