LASERVISION is currently seeking an experienced TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR / PRODUCTION MANAGER with excellent project management experience to become an integral member of our Sydney based team.
Working with the Directors of the company and reporting to the CEO, this position plays a key technical leadership and project role throughout LASERVISION’s local and international world-class outdoor events, productions and installations.
A successful candidate will be proficient in their project planning and management acumen, as well as their technical knowledge of entertainment-based technologies. A detailed description of some of the key tasks you will be responsible for is below:
KEY TASKS – PLANNING
- Oversee each project’s life cycle from conception to completion, with an emphasis on technical soundness and resource efficiency.
- Assist with the planning, management and delivery of production and installation elements.
- Provide the sales and creative teams with technical advice and support.
- Coordinate the technical equipment needs for all productions, installations, and events including stock and hired equipment.
- Plan, review and update technical drawings for the production department.
- Attend production meetings, design presentations and any other meetings relating to the Company’s activities and specific productions, installations, workshops, functions, and events.
- Assist with the creation of all relevant documentation relating to production activity.
- Research and introduce new technologies to the company for future productions and installations.
KEY TASKS – MANAGEMENT
- Undertake self-management of commitments within the delivery of productions and with consideration to the allocation of hours across the project.
- Assist with maintenance and peripheral production-specific activities.
- Coordinate, supervise and assist the LASERVISION staff in delivering technical elements for all productions, installations, and events including staging, lighting, audio, DMX, audio/visual and control.
- Supervise bump-ins and bump-outs for events and installations, technical rehearsals, and client previews.
- Manage budgets as allocated by the C.E.O. ensuring that productions and installations are delivered within the allocated budget.
- Maintain a register for technical equipment and any other equipment sourced for productions, recording the contact details, and ensuring hired or borrowed items are returned at the completion of use and LASERVISION stock accounted for and in good working order.
- Plan and maintain a safe and WH&S compliant work environment in line with relevant policies and guidelines and specific to the production environment.
KEY TASKS – PERFORMANCE
- Ensure all production-specific performance and event activity is delivered within budget and to schedule.
- Enable strong creative partnerships and lines of communication to enable the delivery of design elements.
- Apply WH&S policies and procedures in relation to the program.
- Assess the production technical requirements to ensure all necessary resources are delivered in an efficient and timely manner.
- Provide such duties related to technical coordination and production management as required from time to time including but not limited to pre-production planning, operational requirements, construction supervision, maintenance, and delivery.
KEY TASKS – EVENTS & INSTALLATION
- Facilitate the coordination and supervision of the delivery of technical resources required to manufacture, install, and program the production.
- Assist to ensure LASERVISION delivers best-practice technical work to ensure the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
KEY TASKS – FACILITIES
- Manage LASERVISION’s production facilities.
- Apply best-practice methods to maintaining workplace health and safety.
- Plan and maintain a safe work environment.
- Plan and manage the companies Test and Tag process’
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience in mid to large scale entertainment productions
- Basic rigging experience desirable.
- An understanding of the artistic process together with the ability to work with creative teams to realise their vision.
- Solid knowledge of technical production techniques.
- High-level computer skills, particularly using spreadsheets and word processing software.
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings including the use of CAD software.
- Ability to keep detailed written and electronic records.
- A solid knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements in a production environment and ability to produce WHS documentation including Risk Assessments and Safe Work Method Statements.
- Must have a Valid Driver’s License and Passport.
- Experience in the planning, installation and operating of audio-visual systems and digital spaces.
- Experience and understanding of construction processes and timelines.
