Technical Project Manager – Events & Production

Now that the world is getting back to normal, our annual calendar of Gold Coast & Brisbane corporate and live music events is going gang busters and ELS Productions unique crew of technical leaders, long term staff and technicians are looking for their next Technical Project Manager (2IC) to join the ranks as part of a great team using the latest equipment, delivering world class events.

Your Role:

Your responsibilities will be a balanced mix of sales, administration, operations & production management duties:

  • Service, develop and grow turn-key event solutions for clients.
  • Quote and sell technical production/event solutions & services while maximising revenue across the business.
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance metrics & provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Assist in the hands-on management of all roles within the business: Senior Audio & Lighting Technicians, Production Assistants, Stage Managers, Warehouse Manager & Assistant and other technicians as required. 
  • Employ both creative and technical skills (lighting/audio etc.) in collaboration with the client and the technical department in the process of scheduling, budgeting and creating a production/event.
  • Coordinate and support clients’ requirements before, during and after events and other activities across the site/s.
  • Ensure effective day-to-day operations of equipment and events under your remit.
  • Take a leading role in the coordination, rigging, installing, programming and operation of all elements for our events.
  • Assist in the management of stock control, storage and maintenance of event equipment to ensure it is kept in good, safe, working order.
  • Ensure safe work practices are observed in line with the Venue’s policies and procedures and relevant regulations.
  • Assist with the maintenance of technical equipment and ensure resources are operating effectively.
  • Provide an efficient, safe, and welcoming working environment for all internal and external stakeholders (Clients, suppliers, contractors, staff, punters etc.).
  • Work effectively as a member of a team as well as independently.  


Your Experience:

The key to your success will be your ability to be a confident team player, possess a strong work ethic and have the ability to lead and work in a professional, fast paced environment.

We are looking for someone with expertise in all areas of corporate staging and live events:

  • 5+ Years experience in Snr Technician role in one or all fields (Audio, lighting, video etc.);
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SE QLD events industry;
  • Demonstrated ability in servicing, developing and growing integrated event solutions for clients;
  • Demonstrated ability in exceptional sales while maximising revenue across the business;
  • Demonstrated ability in lighting, audio & video systems, ‘best practice’ strategies and trends in events industry;
  • Demonstrated ability in design and operation of complex sound re-enforcement, wireless technology and recording techniques;
  • Demonstrated ability in training and managing a multi-skilled team;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles and theory of electricity/electronics; and
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hazards and safety precautions in the electricity trade.
  • Strong ability to interpret, apply and enforce industry legislation;
  • Strong ability to lead, develop and mentor crew; and
  • Ability to work a flexible fortnight including weekends & interstate travel.


Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Current driver’s license;
  • Technical Certification (Lighting, Acoustics & Music, Audio Engineering or Production etc.);
  • Vectorworks / CAD Experience;.
  • Construction Induction Card; and
  • Working at Heights


Desirable Qualifications

  • Drivers Licence – HR/MR;
  • High Risk Work Licence – Rigging, Boom, EWP, Forklift;
  • Test and tag license; 
  • First aid certificate; and
  • CurrentRMS.
