The Technical Production Trainee position will provide production support to our Queensland Ballet Production and Technical Services Teams, whilst also undertaking a traineeship to complete a CUA30420: Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services.
This traineeship aims to develop technical skills and knowledge within the industry with a combination of on-the-job training together with formalised knowledge and skills assessments completed over a 12-month period.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Technical Production Trainee reports to the Head of Production and the Head of Technical Services, and to the relevant Unit Manager on a day-to-day basis.
RESPONSIBILTIES
- Successfully incorporate workplace learning and assignments to complete the Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services through the nominated Registered Training Organisation (RTO.) This includes attendance and participation in the formal training process (on the job training or online activities) and completion of tasks, assessments as set by the RTO.
- Assist in delivering high level technical support for Queensland Ballet productions and touring programs as well as internal and external events in our Thomas Dixon Centre.
- Assist with staging, vision, lighting or audio activities as required on a day-to-day basis.
- Undertake other reasonable duties and tasks requested by Supervisors or Managers.
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Availability is required across a seven-day roster for day, evening and weekend shifts to meet operational demands. Full-time Technical Trainees are required to work a total of 38 ordinary hours per week.

KEY CRITERIA
- Ability to work as part of a team in a professional and positive manner.
- Enthusiasm for a technical career in the performing arts.
- Literacy, numeracy and self-management skills of a level sufficient to complete the qualification: CUA30420 Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in an effective and efficient manner, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, organisation, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of technical theatre practices and disciplines would be highly regarded.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, LICENCES & CERTIFICATIONS
- Completion of Senior High School Certificate or equivalent.
- P1, P2 or Open Drivers Licence.
Applicants will be ineligible to apply for this role if they hold a Cert III, Cert IV, diploma, degree, or similar, in any technical production discipline. This role may suit a school leaver.
