Technical Manager, Central Coast

The Art House, Wyong Shire Performing Arts and Conference Centre is the Central Coast’s newest arts venue. Opening in January 2016, they have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Manager to join the team ASAP to coordinate, manage and execute technical operations.

This state-of-the-art venue will be a catalyst facility for the region and will support local and touring professional and amateur arts as well as conferences and functions. Comprising a 500 seat Proscenium Arch Theatre, a flexible Studio Theatre space, display foyer with café and bar and catering facilities, The Art House is located in Wyong town centre.

Key Responsibilities & Activities:

Oversee and coordinate all technical operations of the venue
Liaise with clients and stakeholders of the venue regarding their event technical requirements and implement those requirements for the event
Engage, manage and lead staff to support the technical operations of the venue
Operate the venue’s technical equipment
Coordinate the bump in, running and bump out of events
Ensure maintenance of the Theatre and Studio, including all technical equipment, is completed to appropriate standards
Maintain plant and theatre equipment to ensure the venue is well presented to the public
Ensure the security of the building, its assets and people working, attending and/or using the Theatre & Studio
Liaise with the Executive Director and Marketing Manager to identify and ensure client requirements are met
Provide leadership and direction to reporting technical staff
Occupational Health & Safety/Risk Management

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

Demonstrated previous experience in a technical services role in a performing arts environment and/or tertiary qualification
Class C Driver’s License
Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of staging, lighting and sound equipment
Technical understanding and knowledge of safe theatrical staging, lighting, audio, rigging, flying operation and maintenance
Capacity to coordinate resources and events within a commercial environment
Excellent time management skills
Skills in supervising and leading the work of staff and contractors
Strong administrative and computer skills

Desirable:

Licence requirements- EWP, Rigging, Electrical Test & Tag (or willingness to obtain qualification)
Level 2 Workplace First Aid (or willingness to obtain qualification
Experience with CAD programs
