We are on the lookout for a Technical Manager to lead the technical operations at The Street Theatre. This role is responsible for ensuring the most effective utilisation of people, resources, and systems. The role has two areas of responsibility:
PRODUCTION AND TECHNICAL – coordinate, supervise, and deliver technical operations of all productions, performances, and events at The Street Theatre to national standards.

VENUE and EQUIPMENT – manage the maintenance of The Street Theatre’s technical and theatrical equipment and spaces and associated administrative responsibilities
This role is a key part of the permanent Street team and works closely with creatives to achieve their artistic vision and production values to the highest possible standards within frameworks set by the Company.
CAPABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
- Relevant training and/or tertiary/professional qualification, demonstrated theatre technical experience, or an equivalent combination of both.
- Minimum of five years relevant industry experience.
- Medium-High level of competency and experience in; lighting, projection, sound, stage operations, construction, rigging and production.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage people
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work co-operatively as part of a small busy team
- Ability to work independently and exercise initiative
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a multi-project environment
- Strong planning, organisation and scheduling skills
- A high level of understanding of Workplace Health and Safety legislation and procedures that relate to the theatre and entertainment industries with proven experience of implementing these in a sympathetic manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software packages incl. digital technologies and audio-visual applications, specifically AutoCAD, QLAB, and ETC lighting consoles.
- Current driver’s licence
DESIRABLE
- A knowledge of and interest in contemporary theatre, music, and live performance.
- Experience in lighting design or interest in developing lighting design work
- An interest in minimising the environmental impact of The Street and working in an environmentally responsible manner
