Technical Manage of Venues, Newington College

Newington College is a Uniting Church School of 1800 boys. The College offers both the NSW HSC and IB Diploma courses at Years 11 and 12. There are three campuses (two Prep Schools at Lindfield and Stanmore and a Secondary School at Stanmore).

The College seeks an enthusiastic and flexible person to have oversight of the technical and operational aspects of our major onsite venues. This includes:

a) technical support for productions, events
b) lighting (and supporting specialist lighting providers)
c) audio visual and sound
d) upkeep of venue
e) oversight of bump in/bump out activities
f) support with props and special requirements for events
g) stocktake and maintenance updates of equipment
h) WHS requirements
i) developing and training a student technical crew

The College venues are:

1. Centenary Hall – seats 1200
2. Drama Centre – small theatre – seats 120
3. Concordia Gallery
4. Function Room – Sports Centre – seats 100
5. Prescott Hall – seats 100
6. Rae – Lecture Theatre – seats 250
7. Wyvern Prep Hall – seats 400
8. Chapel – seats 300

The position is hard to define exactly due to a broad range of activities. It will require flexibility, initiative, organisation and an ability to work independently. Qualifications and/or successful experience with the outline above plus appropriate WHS training would be highly regarded. The College would support extra training in appropriate areas.

The position is full-time – 44 weeks with 8 weeks leave. The extra 4 weeks leave is for time in lieu of night time events across the year in term time. Salary is circa $50,000 plus 9% superannuation.

The position will report to Head of Co-curricular. Due to the nature of the role and the focus on the venues the successful candidate will work with a wide range of staff. The predominant staff will be the Head of Drama, Head of Music, ICT Director, Property Manager, Deputy Headmaster and Head of Administration.

The position commences at the end of November or early in the new year (2013).  Full details here.
