The Opportunity
We are seeking a Technical Support Officer to assist providing technical Drama Production support for teaching and research activities from our Penrith campus.
Operating out of our Playhouse theatre, you’ll be responsible for all technical support of drama production on campus. This role includes overseeing the setup, maintenance, and operation of lighting, sound, multimedia, and stage equipment, as well as ensuring the safe and effective execution of production designs.
A background in live performance technology and a working knowledge of theatre production processes is essential, as is the flexibility to work outside standard hours during peak production times.
What Success Looks Like:
- Deliver high-quality technical support for theatrical production and performances as well as directly related practical teaching or research.
- Support Practical teaching by setting up practical classes and performance rehearsals etc.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures for relevant equipment and processes – ensuring that they are up to date and the standard maintained.
- Actively contribute to identifying and recommending areas of improvement through Continuous Improvement or Kaizen?programs.

About You
- Degree in Drama Production is highly regarded but not necessary for success in this role.
- Extensive relevant experience in live production, stagecraft, theatre shows or equivalent.
- Demonstrated excellence in lighting, sound, staging and multimedia equipment, including safe and effective usage.
- Strong communication ability (both written and verbal) with proactivity regarding documenting procedures and coordinating multiple tasks.
