ABOUT THE ROLE:
Bass Coast Shire Council is seeking production staff to deliver and maintain all technical elements of its cultural venues. This will include coordination, set-up and operation of sound, lighting, stage and projection for a broad range of events across professional touring theatre, contemporary and classical music, comedy, dance, cabaret and physical theatre, along with a high-quality community performance program.
You will be part of a busy, positive environment, working with an experienced event delivery team, as part of the Council’s Arts, Culture and Heritage department. Your work will be spread across 2 venues; the soon-to-be-opened Phillip Island-based Cowes Cultural Centre, and the hugely popular Arts Centre in Wonthaggi. Both raked seating theatres with 250+ and 400+ capacities respectively, are equipped with the latest audio, lighting and digital AV technology.
ABIT ABOUT YOU:
While we are always happy to hear from any individuals who have a passion for event delivery and live performance, we are principally seeking those who can demonstrate experience with audio and/or lighting operation. Preferably also with a general understanding of stage management/mechanics and venue operations. Either way feel free to call and have a chat to Malcolm Russell (Coordinator Arts Culture & Heritage) on 0428 48 08 16, or Roxy Smith (Venue Operations Supervisor) on 0487 092 229. We look for forward to speaking with you.
This role is best suited to those with a driver’s licence and access to reliable transport.
Whilst Bass Coast Shire Council support flexible workplace practices, due to the nature of the role, we require flexibility to undertake shifts that best support the operation of the facilities in Wonthaggi and in Cowes. This may include evenings and weekends. We are always open to discuss any individual modifications or requirements to support your on-going success and development, with training and professional development opportunities available ongoing.
Bass Coast Shire Council is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children.
We support and respect all children, as well as our staff, contractors and volunteers. Our organisation is committed to preventing child abuse by identifying risks early and intervening to address these risks. We are committed to the safety of all children, particularly those from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children who are culturally and linguistically diverse, and those with varying needs and/or disabilities.
