Technical Assistant

Casual positions available

Location: Traralgon

$40.32 per hour (includes 25% casual loading) plus 11% superannuation

Department: Creative Venues Events & Tourism

About this Role

We are currently looking for Technical Assistants to assist with technical operations, including the setting up and running of productions and other events requiring theatre production/staging.

You will contribute to the safe and efficient set up and set down of productions across Latrobe City’s creative venues with a focus of Gippsland Performing Arts Centre (GPAC).

About You

You will have a good understanding of stage production, stage management procedures and theatre etiquette as well as a basic understating of technical lighting and sound equipment and will have the support of the Technical Operations team to develop these skills further.

You will need:

  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations is preferred.
  • Current certificate of Electrical Safety/Test and Tag, Working Safely at Heights, Scissor Lift and Vertical Lift license would be an advantage but are not required.
  • Experience, knowledge & interest in performing arts and venue operations
  • Practical skills in the operation of theatre technical systems including lighting, audio, visual and stage management, and the ability to assist in the maintenance and operation of such systems
