Position Context
The Sunnybank Community and Sports Club, with funding assistance from Brisbane City Council (BCC), has committed to the construction of a new community facility at its premises in McCullough Street, Sunnybank. The new development, scheduled for completion in June 2016, will be a 300 seat theatre designated for community and commercial use, adjoining the existing premises. The facility will also have foyer and courtyard areas available for hire, and a rehearsal/meeting room available.
The vision for the new facility is to provide quality performance and entertainment to engage and celebrate an inclusive Brisbane.
The new venue, SunPAC, will be a showcase for local cultural life. It will provide a new local hub for community activities, celebrating the rich diversity of its home in Sunnybank. At the heart of its performance and cultural program, will be engaging experiences that extend beyond a ticket buying transaction.
It will embrace corporate and cultural events and celebrations, provide a platform for workshops, classes and performances and be a source of community pride. It will be unashamedly local and the central pillar of cultural life in Brisbane’s southside.
Purpose
Position Reports to: Executive Producer, SunPAC
Direct Reports: Front of House, Box Office and Technical staff
Liaises Externally with: Commercial and Community Hirers, community and industry
Liaises Internally with: SunPAC employees, SCSC Food and Beverage and SCSC Finance
Financial Delegation: Up to $5,000, over $5,000 with approval by the Executive Producer, over $10,000 by approval of the SunPAC board
Reporting Relationship
The Business Development Manager reports to Executive Producer.
Primary objectives
Facilities Management
Lead and oversee the development, management and maintenance of SunPAC ensuring that it is a professional, welcoming and user-friendly experience for all hirers and presenters.
Develop and implement systems and procedures to deliver events and activities in an efficient and safe manner.
Ensure SunPAC is a safe and healthy work environment and is compliant with health and safety regulations.
Liaise with Brisbane City Council representatives to report and implement agreed maintenance schedules.
Technical Production
Manage all technical aspects of events and performances in SunPAC
Manage repairs and maintenance of technical equipment
Recommend and manage capital expenditure budgets for purchase of technical equipment
Train and manage casual technical staff
Front of House Management
Develop and implement systems and procedures to deliver events and activities and to ensure a professional and welcoming experience for all visitors and hirers
Train and manage casual front of house staff
Food and Beverage
Liaise with the Food and Beverage team to let them know daily requirements in bar, catering, riders
Essential criteria
The Technical and Operations Manager will possess the experience and skills to work collaboratively with community organisations and other arts organisations in a start-up environment.
In addition, the Technical and Operations Manager will possess the following:
Ability to develop systems and policies to ensure compliance while creating an environment that is welcoming to a diverse range of people
Knowledge of and track record in providing technical support to performances, events and functions
Knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge of Front of House systems and procedures
An understanding of venue management and development
Leaderships skills to inspire, motivate and engage staff
REMUNERATION
$70,000 + super
This is a full-time, permanent position.
