This is an operational position and the role coordinates the technical aspects of the Centre venue operations. It incorporates aspects of audio, lighting and staging for events, scheduling and maintenance as well as operational aspects of building systems. This is achieved through working with artists and hirers to plan and develop their productions/events and overseeing the operational activities of the technical support team. The role also coordinates the ongoing building maintenance program.

As Technical and Operations Coordinator, you will –
• Provide high quality technical services and support (electrical, mechanical, audio-visual and electronic) for hirers, residents and other internal and external clients.
• Collaborate with the Events coordinator to determine and provide cost estimates for the specific production and technical requirements for the events and activities within the Centre.
• Contribute technical input into producing the weekly staff roster and any associated production scheduling and event information documents.
• Coordinate physical bump in, set up, operation and bump out of activities in The Theatre, The space and other Centre areas, to ensure efficient operation of events and compliance with statutory and venue policies and procedures.
• Have a thorough working knowledge of technical equipment across lighting, sound and audio-visual and operate technical elements of performance where required.
• Work with resident companies to realise production management elements of new productions.
• Maintain technical equipment in good working order and facilitate repairs where required.
• Ensure the Centre and in particular the backstage areas are clean, tidy and organised at all times.
• Provide induction for users of particular spaces within the venue in accordance with venue policies and procedures.
• Provide supervision and on the job training and motivation of casual technical staff, contractors and trainees.
• Display good judgement, knowledge and experience to exercise the following authorities while on duty;
– In emergency situations, responsible to initiate emergency responses, taking the role of Chief Fire Warden and liaising with appropriate authorities including police, ambulance and other government services;
– Upholding workplace health and safety policies and standards.
• Assisting the Manager – Far North Programs and Infrastructure with the implementation of building and facilities maintenance and acquire a working knowledge of building systems and operations including;

– CCTV System
– CAA IT Network
– Box Office Network
– Bar Equipment
• Working effectively as a member of a team and independently and actively participate in a work environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
• Actively contributing to the achievement of the vision and objectives of the Centre of Contemporary Arts and Arts Queensland through undertaking duties and other activities as directed.
• This position will be required to be available to take building maintenance and security related calls after hours, with this role being shared with the Manager – Far North Programs and Infrastructure on a rostered system.
