Synergy Events buy more RUSH MH3 and MA2 onPC command wing

Tan Huynh, managing director of Synergy Events, was so delighted with his purchase of Martin RUSH MH3 Beam fixtures earlier in the year he could not resist buying some more. On top of that he has also added a MA2 onPC command wing for control.

His new gear was put to the test on Pure Trance held at Melbourne’s Studio 3 last month which saw Synergy Events also provide ProShop LED Quad Colour Multipars, ProShop Sun Strip Blinders and Look Unique Hazer 2’s.

Michael Eather, lighting designer for the event, was familiar with the MA platform having extensively used a MA grandMA light and ultra-light. This was the first gig on which Michael used the MA2 onPC command wing and he admits to being a bit nervous beforehand.

“I was pleasantly surprised at how the transition was and after ten to fifteen minutes I was right at home!” he commented. “I had a lot of effects and macros already created on a USB so I could just load them in and save heaps of time. The MA2 onPC command wing is lightweight and compact which was handy as I didn’t have much room for ops.”

All twelve of Synergy Events RUSH MH3 fixtures were used on the event with their intense and narrow long-throw beams used for spectacular mid-air looks and effects.

“I really like how fast the RUSH MH3’s are especially with the colour wheel,” said Michael. “I do a lot of colour chases and the MH3’s are so snappy. They almost replicate a CMY fixture as you don’t realize the fixture is going through several colours when you speed it up. I use the prism and frosts in combination a lot in effects and that looks really good. As they have such a long throw out into the room as you start doing prism / frost effects, you get a really big effect by the time the beam hits the back of the room. They’re a great fixture.”

Four Pro Shop Sunstrips were placed in a row for a blinder effect with dimmer scrolls across them.

“I had a bunch of flash buttons with different effects on them so they were my handy ‘go to’ effects when I quickly needed something,” added Michael. “They’re nice and bright and can really get the crowd hyped.”

In front of and around the DJ console are Pro Shop LED Quad Colour Multipars which were used to great effect.

“The Pro Shop LED Quad Colour Multipars were a nice, little surprise,” remarked Michael. “At first I wasn’t sure what to do with them but ended up using them quite a bit during the night. They were a nice contrast to the beams and surprisingly kept up with them when used in combination.”
