Supervisor, Production Safety

About the Role

Reporting to the Production Safety Manager, this position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day delivery of event safety which involves making operational decisions and providing advice on safety procedures and processes. Some key accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Deliver effective and informative safety inductions, toolbox talks and safety communications to internal and external production teams and presenters.
  • Assist with the development, review and implementation of all safety documentation, including but not limited to, Safe Operating Procedures, Safe Work Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Assist in conducting Workplace Inspections and Risk Assessments in consultation with key stakeholders to identify and assess high risk work practices.

Variable Time, fixed-term position (25 hours per week for 12 months). Band 3.2 $81,213.60 ($41.10 per hour) plus superannuation.

Variable-time employment is unique to Arts Centre Melbourne and strikes the balance between security and flexibility. You have a guaranteed number of weekly hours, with the chance to flex up to 38 hours if your availability matches available shifts. Shifts can change depending on your availability and operational need. This flexibility means you can enjoy commitments and pursuits outside of work. Variable-time is similar to working flexible part-time. 

Your Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Cert 4 in OHS from a recognised industry organisation and / or demonstrated experience in a health and safety role preferably within a high-risk production / events environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Problem solving skills and capacity for lateral thinking.
  • Demonstrated experience managing priorities and working in a busy, fast-paced environment.

The Production department sits within the Performing Arts pillar and comprises of a team that delivers production services for ACM across Staging, Lighting, Audio/Vision, Broadcast, Wardrobe, Stage Management, Safety and Training to enable the safe and efficient delivery of events across all of our venues and spaces.
