Stereosonic Festival 2010

     

Stereosonic 2010 dance festival hit Sydney first with a bang, bringing Europe’s top DJ’s to Australian shores.  Clifton productions were engaged to stage and light the Stereosonic main stage of the tour in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Headlining the lineup as a main attraction was Tiesto. The main stage also including the likes of festival favorites such as Carl Cox, Calvin Harris, Sebastian Ingrosso and Benny Banassi.

Clifton Productions are one of the first production companies to receive and use their new Robe Robin 600 LEDWashes, and a quantity of these went straight out to work for the busy summer 2010/2011 festival season. As the Stereosonic Main Stage had the biggest line ups, an impressive stage of visuals was a must, and those designs were surely achieved by lighting designer and operator, Matthew Smith.

The Main Stage was an 18m x 12m structure made and supplied by Clifton Productions, with an extra 20m of scaffold structure either side of stage with panels of VuePix P18 square cubes in the bays. Each cube had 2 panels of VuePix P18’s, and each letter on the bays was illuminated with a iLEDpro Source 36. A total of 116 VuePix P18’s were used in 3 sections of the back stage on curved truss, complemented by  50 Vuepix P25 panels in from of the DJ Riser. In the gaps of the P18’s on the back stage were 36 iLED PixeLED patons.

The effect lighting above the stage comprised of 18 Robe 700EAT Spots as well as 8 Robe Robin LEDWash 600’s near the dj riser with 6 Robe REDWashes in front of the dj and in each corner of the stage.

System Tech Michael Parsons from Clifton Productions. “We absolutely love the new Robin 600 fixtures! “We have never seen a small fixture which such large zoom that has a uniform of colour anywhere in the zoom path at any beam angle”. “They are a really great investment to our Robe inventory”, he concludes.
