About the role
The Stage Manager will be responsible for the smooth running of the rehearsal process and performance season. This position will require active involvement in the company management team to support the creative team.
Key areas of focus
- Bump-in and bump-out all stage management and props elements;
- Rostering staff to manage fatigue and minimise overtime during busy periods;
- To assist the production coordinator/company assistant with the development of rehearsal schedules during the rehearsal period and for understudy calls during the run of show;
- To assist the Technical Director with timely list of rehearsal requirements prior to and during the rehearsal period as the need arises;
- Follow-through on origination, update and modification of all relevant show plots, prompt scripts and the like of the Production;
- Aid in the maintenance of the physical and artistic function of the Production by reporting on all issues as they present themselves;
- Maintain the technical standard set by the Technical Director; and
- Calling the Production and teaching calls to the Stage Management team.
- Attend production and staff meetings and implement requests from these meetings as directed.
Our ideal candidate will have
- Tertiary Qualifications in Stage Management or other related field
- 2 years’ proven experience in the area(s) of Stage Management or equivalent
- Be highly skilled in the reading of musical scores and call of operatic productions
- Experience working in an outdoor environment and understand the logistics and communication that is required to operate and maintain a performance during different weather patterns;
- An understanding of the requirements for managing a large event site and rehearsal room, as well as large numbers of actors, singers and dancers during rehearsal and performance periods;
