Welcoming over 1.5 million visitors to more than 1200 performances each year, we embrace the best in live performance – the world renowned alongside the emerging, local and new – and connect to the stories and ideas at the heart of each production. Through the warmth and expertise of our staff, we have become a trusted curator, presenter and host; a place to come together to relax, reflect, share stories and celebrate.
An exceptional opportunity currently exists for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our Production Services team in the part-time 12-month term role of Senior Stage Manager.
Reporting to the Manager – Production Services and liaising closely with the Event Managers, you will provide hands-on, professional and client-focused stage management services to QPAC’s venue hirers.
In addition to stage-managing rehearsals, productions and events across QPAC’s multiple venues, this role is also responsible for supervising Assistant Stage Managers, participating in production meetings, liaising with clients and disseminating pertinent information to ensure the smooth presentation of performances.
Customer service is of paramount importance to this role, as is the ability to interpret clients’ production, stage management, dressing room, orchestral and technical requirements. This position requires a high-calibre individual who is suitably experienced and qualified in stage management and has the demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently within high-pressure and time-sensitive live theatre environments.
To be successful in this role, you will possess a high degree of initiative, exceptional communication and time management skills, extensive knowledge of theatre practices and the ability to lead and marshal large numbers of technicians, performers and musicians.
The hours of work in this role will be primarily theatre-based and availability will be required for day, evening and weekend shifts, including extended periods, to service venue hirers’ schedules. The successful candidate will be rostered for a minimum of 24 hours per week, with the capacity to increase up to 38 hours per week. Depending on business activity, you may be required to work more 38 hours per week, however, approved penalty and overtime rates are applicable.
At QPAC, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our people – both staff and visitors – is one of our core values. Please note it is a requirement of working at QPAC to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
