About the role
The Sound and Vision Systems Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the Audio Vision Department.
Key areas of focus
- To assess and coordinate the operational requirements in advance of all seasons and put in place all necessary arrangements to ensure suitable logistics support.
- To coordinate with all departments in Opera Australia to ensure effective use of staff and equipment in rehearsals and performances.
- Assist in the scheduling of seasonal & casual staff to meet the production needs of the company; within determined budget, schedule and WHS constraints.
- Coordinate with the Production Managers and monitor a freight schedule and inventory of equipment, ensuring all equipment and required staff are at calls when required.
- Document the sound design, such that it can be remounted in a repertory environment, including the capacity to deliver the production and maintain the integrity of the played-back design.
- Supervise the key operations associated with the staging of productions as required (eg. Bump-in, bump-out, stage orchestral, first changeovers)
- Demonstrate knowledge of theatrical audio equipment, mixing consoles, the rigging of loudspeakers, operations of media servers, rigging of Projection and LED screens and daily or routine maintenance for equipment
- Prepare risk assessments, including sound level predictions for forthcoming seasons in collaboration with the Production Managers and Stage Operations Coordinator, and monitor compliance throughout seasons.
- Manage the daily running and production administrative duties of the Audio and Vision Department, day to day crew rosters changes and other staff related documentation.
- Submit, regular progress reports to the relevant Head of Department and Senior Manager.
- Read and/or complete detailed reference records and Audio & vision show plots as used in specific productions.
Key Selection Criteria
- Tertiary Qualifications in Audio, Vision, or related field is preferred
- 3+ years’ experience in the supply, installation, programming, maintenance and documentation of theatrical audio and vision rigs and designs.
- A flexible, quick organised manner and an inventive creative approach.
- Ability to lead a team of skilled operators in varied and diverse situations where it may not be part of your core skill base
- Intermediate MS office skills including Excel, Photoshop, Outlook
