Sound and Lighting Technical Production Officer

THE POSITION

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Sound & Lighting Technical Production Officer to join our dynamic team. This role will work across both Colleges – Moreton Bay College and Moreton Bay Boys’ College and is a member of the Operations Team.

The Sound & Lighting Technical Production Officer will assist in maintaining and managing the overall technical and production needs of MBC and MBBC. The role is very hands on in all stages of production and will require working closely with other College team members to stage concerts, functions, conferences and other related activities. The ability to design and build sound and lighting and projection systems and resources to facilitate College events would be an advantage for the successful candidate.

The role will be responsible for –

  • Technical and production support for the Colleges’ events including concerts, assemblies, chapels, parent information evenings, college formal events
  • Maintaining the Colleges’ audio and lighting equipment and advising on upgrades and requirements within this area
  • AV Live streaming of College events as requested and approved by the staff
  • Production and technical support for any external hire and use of Colleges’ venues

All staff are appointed by the CEO & Executive Principal of MBC and MBBC, and they are responsible to the Chief Operating Officer for the overall performance of their duties.

The Sound & Lighting Technical Production Officer reports directly to the Property & Facilities Manager.

  • Director of Co-Curricular Dance and Drama
  • Chief Operating Officer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide strong practical operational support to ensure technical requirements for college events, are met effectively, efficiently, and safely across the Colleges.
  • Provide setup and technical services to events and ensure the production requirements for performances, exhibitions, events and functions at the Moreton Bay College & Moreton Bay Boys’ College venues are met.
  • These events may include concerts (particularly music and dance), assemblies, chapels, parent information evenings, college formal events and other staff requested events
  • Provide assistance to the facilities team as required.
  • Contribute to day to day and ongoing asset maintenance and renewal requirements of the Colleges’ technical equipment.
  • Responsibility for pre-production, set-up, Audio and lighting, presentation, and live streaming and post-event pack down. all College Events as directed
  • Lighting and sound equipment purchasing requirements, stock control and management of resources between MBBC & MBC.
  • Work with all types of AV technology including but not limited to ceiling mount projectors, motorized screens, video conferencing equipment, video walls, routers and switching, running and termination cables

The role includes shifts within and outside normal business hours and may include weekends.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience in control systems, AV integration, Video Conferencing and cable termination
  • Demonstrated experience in operating live sound and lighting for musical performances
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation of theatrical/conference audio and audio-visual systems
  • Demonstrated experience in Production Management
  • AV experience with ability to operate Live streaming
  • Demonstrated experience in control systems, AV integration, Video Conferencing and cable termination.
  • A methodical approach to fault finding, diagnosis and resolution of technical issues
  • Ability to work autonomously and make technical decisions
  • Ability to learn from and interpret technical documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively lead and motivate
  • Ability to work within a team
  • High attention to detail
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Property and Facilities Manager

  • Working with Children’s Suitability Card, or ability to apply, is
  • Transport for travel between MBC and MBBC – You will be required to work at both campuses – Moreton Bay College and Moreton Bay Boys’ College.

CONDITIONS AND SALARY  

  • Salary to be negotiated. 
  • Long Service Leave entitlement of 1.3 weeks for each year of service, which can be taken after 7 years.
  • The College contributes superannuation as per the Moreton Bay Enterprise Agreement.
