Solid State Logic has announced the launch of SpringVerb, the newest member of the Verb collection of plugins that’s designed to impart the “vibe” of classic spring reverb into productions, combining vintage hardware character with the flexibility of modern control.
Modeled on the most popular spring tanks built, SpringVerb is designed to embody the tone and texture behind classic recordings across rock, pop, electronic music, reggae/dub, and more. It’s well suited for guitars, snares, vocals, keys, and synths.
Spring reverbs naturally emphasize the mid and high frequencies that can take over a mix. SSL SpringVerb is designed to provide more precise control over this behavior with dedicated damping to tame problem areas before they build up, plus intelligent ducking to keep the effect sitting where it is needed. While classic hardware tanks are limited by their physical design, SpringVerb goes further, offering deeper, musical parameter control that unlocks sonic shaping that would be challenging on traditional units.
Textures include famous space-age echoes, classic rackmount spring tank, and dub, used by King Tubby and Lee Perry. Users can add more springs for more density and complexity.
Adjustable reverb characteristics allow for customizing time, tension, pre-delay, and stereo width for a level of control not possible with many hardware tanks. SSL control fosters the addition of analogue drive, ducking, and frequency damping to shape the reverb. ?
SpringVerb provides creative control over how the reverb is expressed. For instance, users can fade between single, double, and triple-springs. The more springs, the denser and complex the reverb will become. Meanwhile, the Time knob controls decay length, with the Sync button allowing it to lock to tempo-based values when desired. The Freeze button stops new input and will create an infinite reverb tail until it is turned off.
