SOH457 Technical Support Technician,Theatre & Events

We are currently seeking a casual Technical Support Technician to contribute to the delivery of outstanding technical support for the Theatre & Events department in the operation and delivery of broadcast and live performance.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, Technical Support, the Technical Support Technician ensures that proactive and reactive maintenance schedules for all Theatre & Events assets are carried out in a timely and efficient manner. It provides exceptional customer service to the Theatre & Events team by working on projects, supporting events, performing maintenance, and managing production equipment.

This position provides technical support services and consultative advice around Opera House systems for communications, paging, sound and AV transmission, fibre-optic cabling, and RF. It provides first level support for various systems including those used by sound, AV, lighting, and staging crews. The role also assists with the operation of onsite and offsite warehouses.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Trade or relevant technical qualifications (Electronics Trade Certificate) or; five years’ experience in a broadcast/live entertainment environment including an understanding of theatre principles gained from operational sound, audio visual, or lighting experience.
Understanding of relevant technical standards and terminology in relation to sound, audio visual, and lighting industries.
Demonstrated experience operating signal testing equipment and conducting basic fault finding regimes for sound, audio visual, networking, or lighting systems.
Knowledge of stagecraft, the principles of stage management and theatre automation systems, and theatre protocol.
Commitment to customer service, including an ability and preparedness to react to emergency situations.
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Status: Casual
Position No: SOH457
Salary Package: $30.46 per hour + relevant penalty rates and casual loading (as per the SOH Enterprise Areement)

Please note, this position will require you to be flexible and willing to engage in shift work and non-regular hours (including weekends and public holidays).
