Sidestage Production Services has been live streaming from one of our managed venues for over a month now.
The lockdowns that were introduced in March immediately put an end to gatherings, events, shows. From then on out, we were in the unknown.
Overnight, our team transformed a venue that is typically set up to present to a live audience, to a space that is optimal for live broadcasting. This largely meant placing stage structures to break up the floor, rigging lighting fixtures with camera shots in mind, and running audio lines as covertly as possible. Above all, we had to design a layout that promoted a safe distance of at least 1.5m between band members.
As restrictions are slowly eased, we will witness a return to some normality. Sadly, our industry will not bounce back to the way things were for a long time to come. There’s no simple restarting of the complex and far-reaching trade that is live entertainment. We must adapt to the new rulebook, and let the show go on.
