After much research, Show Technology found a golf course willing to hold their 2011 PGA Invitational although strangely enough they may not be invited back again next year. The North Ryde Golf foolishly welcomed twenty two of the entertainment, theatre and AV industries wannabe pro-golfers who donned their plaids and polished their balls before heading to course for the event.
“With many people being very busy at this time of the year, it is great to see so many people able to come out and just relax, even if only for a few holes,” commented Mark ‘Dirty Birdie’ McInnes, who being a seasoned veteran at these events kicked the day off setting a cracking pace with his group.
Amazingly, everyone started the day well and had high hopes for their teams until the course took its hold and many players, particularly the new kids, spent more time with the wildlife than they did walking the course. There is no truth in the rumour that the RSPCA are investigating a particularly nasty incident involving Darren ‘Too Green’ McLanders, a putter and a feisty seagull.
As everyone approached the club house it was great to see that all the teams were able to shoot under par, with the podium being decided by the last few holes.
The 2011 winners pictured were: Peter ‘Wedgie’ Wilson from Australian Venue Service, Thomas ‘Bogeyman’ Armarti of Microhire Sydney, Vicken ‘The Sandtrap’ Hekimian from Scene Change and Rod ‘Sneaky Balls’ Vowell from Show Technology.
