Perth’s Mega Vision Sound & Lighting Sound supplied all production elements for the 2019 Red Earth Arts Festival held in Karratha in the states North West presented by the City of Karratha.
In control of the lighting package this year was Megavision’s new Light Shark LS-1 console which performed well in the heat and dust.
The Festival this year featured Spinifex Gum, a collaboration between the Marliya Indigenous choir of the Gondwana Choirs, and Felix Riebl and Ollie McGill of the Cat Empire.
Spinifex Gum are touring nationally, and their new track, Dream Baby Dream, is helping to provoke a discussion about the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
Used to performing in theatres on an MA2 console the show required adaption for an outdoor stage and the Light Shark LS-1 was able to cope with the theatrical cue stack sequencing of the show it was tasked with reproducing.
Editing and modification of cues was a breeze and Lighting Director Chloe Ogilvie re-created Mark Howett’s lighting design very closely despite the reduction in rig size and the complexities of performing a theatrical show outdoors.
“The Light Shark LS-1 proved itself to be able to cope with a complex show while maintaining a tiny footprint at Front of House, the lighting looked great and the touring crew left happy, I was very impressed,” remarked Megavision’s Managing Director Jeff Georgiou.
