You will liaise with clients regarding their technical requirements for events within the venue, including business events, conferencing, theatre shows, community events and art gallery exhibitions. You will perform the role of Duty Manager, over-seeing events and supervising the technical crew operating lighting, sound and staging.
What you’ll be doing:
- Rig and operate lighting and audio equipment
- Maintain excellent communication between Technical Services staff and our hirers, suppliers, other staff and contractors
- Provide technical advice and expertise to our hirers and community users of the facility
- Ensure Risk Assessments are completed prior to every event in the venue
- Maintenance of technical equipment
- Undertake inspections and ensure compliance with Council’s WHS policies
- Direct casual theatre technicians to adequately service events at Saltwater
What you’ll bring to the role:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical theatre/events role
- Proficiency in computer systems, network maintenance and a range of computing skills
- A calm, cooperative, and customer-focused approach
- Proven experience with WHS procedures within the live entertainment industry
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
Pre-employment requirements:
- Current C-class Drivers Licence
- National Police Clearance (obtained within last 6 months)
- Proof of right to work in Australia
- White Card

Hours and conditions:
Ordinary hours will follow a fortnightly roster, across weekends and evenings, depending on what events are scheduled in the venue, so flexibility is essential. Overtime penalty rates are payable for weekend work.
