The Business Unit

The Production department sits within the Performing Arts pillar and comprises of a team that delivers production services for ACM across Staging, Lighting, Audio, Broadcast, Wardrobe, Stage Management, and Safety/Training to enable the safe and efficient delivery of events across all of our venues and spaces.

About the Position

Since 2011, Arts Centre Melbourne’s ‘Industry Asssociation’ RTO (Registered Training Organisation) has been at the forefront of technical training services for the live performing arts industry delivering:

Our highly successful in-house production traineeship program (Certificate III in Live Production & Services)

Nationally Accredited Training & Assessment in a range of units of competency from the qualifications Cert III & Cert IV Live Production & Technical Services to support Arts Centre Melbourne’s production team & technicians from metro, regional and interstate venues

This role works individually or as part of a team, providing high-quality industry relevant technical training programs in live technical production sound & vision, lighting, staging & stage & production management. The successful applicant will be required to assist in developing & facilitating training for individual and team learning to support the professional development of Arts Centre Melbourne’s Production team, industry affiliate members and venues locally, regionally and nationally.

To be successful in this role you will require:

A relevant trade qualification, Diploma in Live Production & Technical Services or higher at a recognised institution and /or equivalent extensive experience working within the entertainment industry.

TAE40116: Certificate IV Training & Assessment (or higher) & general knowledge of competency based training and assessment within the Australian Qualification Framework. (Desirable, but can be provided to the right candidate if necessary)

Demonstrated professional experience working in a large-scale theatre or similar entertainment industry venue.

Experience with technical training instruction and group facilitation.

Experience in applying a wide range of technical knowledge across the main production departments for different situations and venues.

A comprehensive understanding of:

Sound (amplification, live recording, reproduction & wireless radio microphone systems)

Vision Systems (video projection, vision mixing, media servers & broadcast)

Lighting (conventional & intelligent fixtures, artistic effects & control concepts)

Staging (theatrical staging elements, flying systems & rigging practises)

Stage & Production Management (budgeting, scheduling & leading teams)
