Senior Theatre Technician

Temporary Full Time until November 2025

Location: Traralgon, Victoria

Salary Range: $76171.43 – $87565.78 + 11.5% Superannuation

Department: Creative Venues Events & Tourism

About this role

As the Senior Theatre Technician, you will support our Head of Technical Operations in supervising the day-to-day operations of technical and theatrical production at Latrobe City Council Creative Venues with a focus on Gippsland Performing Arts Centre. You will oversee the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre technical team to deliver exceptional customer service and back of house services exceeding community expectations whilst maintaining a safe work environment.

About You

For this role we are seeking someone with excellent communication skills to be able to build partnerships with contractors, venue hirers, production companies, theatre patrons and artistic personnel. You’ll have a commitment to providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the wider team provide the same.

You will also need

A relevant qualification and/or substantial experience in theatrical technical services.

Experience in supervising technicians in a Performing Arts setting.

All relevant certificates and licenses to ensure safe running of Council’s Creative Venues, or a commitment to gaining these within 6 months of beginning the role:

Construction Induction (White Card);

Work at Heights Safety Licence;

Scissor and Vertical Lift / Operate Elevated Work Platform (Yellow Card);

First Aid;

Demonstrated knowledge in maintaining a safe environment within a Performing Arts Centre;

Current Driver’s Licence is essential.

Successful applicants are required to apply for and satisfactorily obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children Check and undertake a Pre-employment Medical Check.
