Are you a highly skilled and motivated staging technician with a passion for the performing and visual arts? HOTA (Home of the Arts) is looking for a Senior Technician, Staging to play a key role in ensuring our staging and rigging facilities meet the highest standards for our diverse range of performances, exhibitions, and events.
About the Role
As a Senior Technician, Staging, you will support the day-to-day technical operations of HOTA’s performing and visual arts spaces, ensuring staging systems, rigging equipment, and resources align with both client needs and organisational standards. You will maintain the highest operational standards while upholding strict Work Health & Safety (WH&S) compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Services Development & Improvement
- Contribute to the enhancement of technical services for theatrical, corporate, and visual arts events.
- Assist in developing and implementing operational procedures for performing and visual arts spaces.
- Provide recommendations for equipment upgrades, maintenance, and long-term investment strategies.
Operational & Technical Leadership
- Oversee the daily operation of staging and rigging equipment to ensure smooth project execution.
- Support the coordination, installation, and programming of technical elements for exhibitions, special events, and performances.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless event delivery.
- Supervise rostered team members involved in exhibitions, performances, and events.
Equipment Maintenance & Safety
- Maintain rigging and staging equipment in compliance with safety standards.
- Keep accurate records and develop operational procedures to improve efficiency.
- Provide training for HOTA team members on specific equipment and exhibitions.
Technical Operations & Administration
- Operate staging and rigging equipment across various events and performances.
- Utilise technical software to create and adapt technical plans.
- Assist with rostering for the Technical Services team.
- Support administrative tasks assigned by the Technical Operations Manager or Head of Staging.

- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of WH&S regulations and a commitment to maintaining safe work practices.
