Arts Centre Melbourne is seeking a highly skilled and experienced lighting programmer to join our dynamic lighting team on a fixed-term basis. This role is essential in supporting our production needs and ensuring the highest quality lighting for our performances.
In addition to lighting programming, this position is responsible for providing technical expertise and support to the Lighting Supervisors and our presenters. Senior Technicians provide skills at an advanced level across consoles, followspots and general lighting tasks. They also assist in overseeing Lighting staff and participate in the operation of lighting equipment for pre-production, rigging, rehearsals, performances, and de-rigging of shows and events in line with presenters’ requirements.
Variable time fixed term position to end November 2026, average 25 hours per week. Band 2.3 Salary $71,770 pro rata + superannuation.
Key Responsibilities
- High-Level Lighting Console Programming: Utilise your expertise in ETC Eos and/or GrandMA programming to support our visiting companies.
- Support the Lighting Team: Provide guidance, coordination, and leadership within the lighting team to maintain smooth operations and high standards.
- Provide Venue Knowledge and Stability: Contribute to maintaining continuity and efficiency by applying your intimate knowledge of working with presenters and our performance spaces.
- Maintaining Specialised Skills: Stay up to date with industry standards and advancements, enhancing specialised skills within the team.
Your Skills and Experience:
- Expertise in Lighting Console Programming: Proven experience and proficiency in ETC Eos and/or GrandMA programming.
- Strong Leadership Skills: Ability to guide, coordinate, and lead a team to ensure high standards and efficient operations.
- Effective Resource Management: Capability to manage resources effectively during peak periods to meet production demands.
- Knowledge of Venue Operations: Deep understanding of working with presenters and Arts Centre Melbourne to maintain continuity and efficiency.
- Commitment to Skill Enhancement: Dedication to maintaining and enhancing specialised skills, staying current with industry advancements.
- Industry Experience: Possess a relevant trade qualification, Diploma or higher at a recognised institution or equivalent extensive experience working within the entertainment industry.
- Desired Qualifications: Basic or Intermediate Riggers licence, Fire Emergency Warden training, Test & Tag, Elevated Work Platform licence, Work Safely at Heights, Occupational Health and Safety and knowledge of ‘in house’ equipment relevant to the position are preferred.
