An exceptional opportunity currently exists for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join QPAC’s Production Services team in the full-time, two-year term role of Senior Technician – Lighting.
Reporting to the Manager Lighting and Electrical Services, in this role you will be responsible for delivering support to the Lighting Department, within the Production Services Unit, providing professional, client-focused and cost-efficient lighting services to Venue Hirers and other internal QPAC Units.
Additional responsibilities include the experience and ability to:
- Interpret stage lighting designs, technical requirements and specifications.
- Set up, operate & maintain lighting and electrical systems & equipment used in a live theatre environment.
- Find, analyse and rectify faults under pressure and within tight time frames.
- Run Lighting crew in both bump in/out and show environments
- Programme and operate ETC EOS lighting consoles, incl moving light rigs.
- Plus familiarity with Grand MA consoles will be well regarded.

- The ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people.
- Have a flexible, open-minded approach to change in high pressure situations.
- Administrative skills including computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word, Hire Track, Inventory Management System and Vectorworks)
- A relevant tertiary qualification in technical theatre production
- Experience in leading and motivating teams in a dynamic live theatre environment with a hands-on approach is also essential.
Hours of work will be thirty-eight (38) hours per week and will be primarily theatre-based, with some maintenance and office work. Availability will be required for day, evening and weekend hours and for extended periods to service hirers’ schedules. Depending on business activity, you may be required to work more than thirty-eight (38) hours per week, however approved penalty and overtime rates are applicable.
