The Opportunity

Monash University Performing Arts Centres (MPAC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Production Officer to join our dynamic team. As a critical member of our technical team, you will be responsible for providing expert technical assistance and advice to clients utilising MPAC’s venues, ensuring events are delivered to the highest standards and in a safe and efficient manner.

Leading event teams, supervising and training our technical staff, and managing clients within our venues will be central to your role. Your expertise in technical theatre operations, including lighting, audio, vision, and stage mechanics, will be put to use as you attend production meetings and collaborate with our clients during the planning stages of events.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need extensive experience within the performing arts industry, along with a high level of knowledge and understanding in at least one technical theatre discipline. Moreover, a strong commitment to excellent customer service, outstanding communication skills, and a track record of successful production management will be essential.

Your ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders, both within the University and externally, will be crucial. Additionally, your strong leadership skills and experience in enforcing OH&S practices in public venues will ensure the safety and success of our events. If you thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment and are ready to contribute your technical expertise to the arts community, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity at MPAC.

Strong knowledge of and extensive experience in theatrical lighting systems will be an advantage.

Diversity is one of our greatest strengths at Monash. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disabilities, neurodiverse people, and people of all genders, sexualities, and age groups.

Be part of our story. Work with us to #ChangeIt.

Monash avidly supports flexible and hybrid working arrangements. We have a range of policies in place enabling staff to combine work and personal commitments. This includes supporting parents.

Your employment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of all pre-employment and/or background checks required for the role, as determined by the University.
