Senior Production Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Production Technician will oversee the technical and operation needs of the campus, ensuring the smooth execution of performances, classes and events across multiple spaces. You will collaborate with staff, faculty and students to provide technical expertise and support while maintaining equipment and facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. PERFORMANCE & CONCERT HALL (PCA)

  • Manage audio patching and setups for classes and performance
  • Reconfigure patching frequently to meet weekly setup requirements.
  • Conduct stage maintenance, cable management, and equipment damage reporting.
  • Record and mix live performances using a mixing console and DAW.

2. DIGITAL EMDIA LAB (DML)

  • Ensure software and equipment are up to date and functioning.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all studio spaces daily.
  • Coordinate with Creative Tech academics to meet specific production needs for classes.
  • Maintain a clean and organised lab environment.


3. STUDIOS AND PRODUCTION SUITES

  • Ensure software and equipment are up to date and functioning.
  • Ensure proper equipment allocation and readiness in each room.
  • Regular use and trouble shooting with the TOFT ATB 16 console.
  • Hosting ‘Studio Induction’ sessions with new Creative Tech students.
  • Provide support for students with recording sessions and studio setups
  • Ensure proper pack-down and tidiness of equipment and spaces after use.


4. CAMPUS EVENTS

  • Provide technical support for major events such as:

– Student recitals, ensembles, and showcase evenings

– Annual musical productions

– Graduation ceremonies

– External group event setup

– Open days / Info days

  • Assist with weekly student lounge performance


5. TECHNICAL SUPPORT & OPERATIONS

  • Offer technical support for classroom AV setups and other operational needs.
  • Reception relief when necessary, requiring proficiency in Salesforce and EZOffice system.
  • Assist students with DAW setups and troubleshooting in production suites (experience with Ableton and Logic highly desirable).
  • Facilitate equipment loans, including setup assistance for recording sessions.
  • Maintain the production office, ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and stock accuracy.
  • Collaborate with academic staff to coordinate and fulfill A/V requirements for lectures and classroom activities.
  • Manage gear inventory, including regular stocktakes, maintenance, and ensuring equipment is clean and organised in ensemble & practice rooms.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Proficiency in live audio mixing and signal routing.
  • Strong understanding of DAWs, particularly Ableton and Logic
  • Familiarity with AV setups, including stage and classroom environments
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for technical issues.
  • Ability to maintain and organise technical spaces and equipment.


FAVORABLE SKILLS

  • Experience in event production and management
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with students and staff.
  • Knowledge of software maintenance and digital media systems
