Role Purpose
Lead NW Group’s NSW lighting function—owning standards, systems and show delivery—while building and mentoring a capable crew. You’ll ensure every event is safe, on-brief and technically excellent across the full spectrum of NW Group shows (boutique retail, private functions, corporate events, festivals).
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People
- Establish lighting SOPs, checklists and documentation; champion WHS and risk management.
- Coach and mentor casual and full-time lighting crew
- Collaborate with Production/Operations on resourcing, budgets and timelines.
Pre?Production & Design Support
- Interpret briefs, floorplans and plots; advise on fixture selection, truss layouts, power distro and control architecture.
- Produce patch sheets, networking diagrams, cue stacks and show paperwork.
- Contribute to look development (colour palettes, effects, pixel mapping).
Equipment & Inventory
- Lead prep/strike processes; ensure rigs are safe and compliant.
- Maintain consoles, fixtures and infrastructure; initiate repairs and upgrades; keep documentation current.
- Support purchasing recommendations aligned to show demands and future pipeline.
Show Delivery
- Operate consoles (grandMA preferred) and manage DMX/sACN/Art?Net networks.
- Oversee rigging coordination, focusing, rehearsals and live cueing.
- Troubleshoot under pressure; make safe, fast decisions.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the lighting point of contact for clients, producers, venue partners and touring teams; represent NW Group standards.
- Contribute to debriefs, lessons learned and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience (Essential/Desirable)
- Essential: 4+ years professional lighting in live events; advanced console operation; DMX and IP networking fundamentals; reading technical drawings; strong communication.
- Desirable: grandMA2/3 proficiency; Vectorworks/Capture/WYSIWYG; EWP ticket; White Card; basic rigging accreditation; test & tag competencies; driver’s licence (MR/HR advantageous).
