Seasonal Lighting Technicians, Opera Australia * POSITION FILLED *

Opera Australia is Australia’s national opera company, presenting some fourteen operas annually in a repertory environment, musicals, regional tours, outdoor events and concerts. As Australia’s largest performing arts organisation, the company presents close to 1000 performances annually across its diverse operations.

Opera Australia is seeking to engage Lighting Technicians on seasonal contracts for its 2015 Summer Season at the Sydney Opera House.

The successful candidates will have at least 3 years proven experience as lighting technicians in a complex professional theatre environment and will be able to demonstrate the following:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A sound knowledge of the set-up and operation of both conventional and moving light fixtures
A good understanding of lighting control systems and associated power requirements
Logical thinker with fault-finding ability
Be able to work in both a team environment and unsupervised, to achieve clearly stated milestones
An ability to exercise initiative when required
Having a genuine desire to work within the Arts and Entertainment Industry.

A valid EWP certificate and a working knowledge of Vectorworks and other lighting specific software is desirable.

Remuneration will be based on experience.
