Bulletproof, built like a tank and ready for the road, the sE Electronics BL8 Boundary Mic is ideal for a variety of applications, such as kick drums and other high SPL sources, as well as theatrical miking and capturing instruments such as grand pianos in onstage or live performance situations.
The half-cardioid BL8 boundary mic utilizes the same capsule as sE’s well-known sE8 small-diaphragm condenser, hence the name BL8. The mic’s handcrafted, true-condenser capsule utilizes an ultra-thin 3-micron gold-sputtered diaphragm for superior transient response. Designed to reproduce low frequencies with stunning accuracy, the BL8 is perfect in combination with our V KICK, but can also be used alone without an additional outer kick drum mic. It is also compatible with The Kelly Shu Flatz™ Isolation System, making it ideal for touring applications.

Transformerless Class-A circuitry ensures plentiful headroom without distortion, while its low-noise electronics deliver transparency and clarity. The integrated low-cut filter and classic and modern EQ shaping switches make the BL8 an incredibly versatile microphone, excelling at immersive ambience recording, detailed room miking, and can even be used on acoustic pianos, cajon, conference/speech vocals, room miking and more.
Thanks to its switchable -10/-20 dB attenuation pad, the BL8 keeps high-SPL sources like kick drums from overloading your mixer’s input providing pristine sound that is true to the source. With all-metal construction, a dent-proof grille, and gold-plated XLR contacts, the BL8 ensures long-term reliability on tour or in the studio. An integrated, switchable 80/160 Hz, -6 dB/octave low cut filter is also standard.
