Robe Gear All Over Spilt Milk

Bands, food, art and friends were the theme when the Spilt Milk Festival took over Commonwealth Park in Canberra for the 2018 edition of the ever-growing festival.

Perfect festival weather greeted the 35,000+ punters, undeterred by the late line-up change, with tickets selling out in minutes as per previous years.

Three main stages saw local and international talent strut their stuff, and as well as this there were food areas, chill out zones and promotional stages to ensure everyone was kept fed and entertained well into the night.

Canberra’s own Elite Event Technology were commissioned with audio, lighting and video production, as well as crowd barriers for the day. MPH Australia provided lighting supply on the Angrove Stage, with support from EET. JPJ Audio provided audio for the Angrove Stage utilising an L-Acoustics rig.

Robe gear featured heavily on all main stages in both flown rigs and floor packages containing Spiiders, BMFLs, Pointes and the all new MegaPointe.

“The MegaPointes are pretty mega as the name suggests!” Outlined Darren Russell, MD of Elite Event Technology. “We were among the first production companies in the world to run the original Pointes and have loved their multifunctionality over other one trick beam lights, but the MegaPointe takes it to a whole other level”.

The rigs consisted of mixtures of all sized units, “All the range compliments each other really well. The MegaPointes easily hold their own against the punchy BMFLs, in fact they are closer to BMFL than the Pointe, but with BMFL and MegaPointes flown, and Pointes as part of the floor package, you have a great range of features, punch and effects for a complete stage look”

Crowd favourites The Wombats and Peking Duk kept everyone rocking out into the night on the Angrove Stage, whereas producers RL Grime and Hayden James kept the boogie going on the Basquiat Stage.

“The new gear is awesome, the Spiiders are kick ass and provide heaps of scope for the designers to use. But a testament to the brand and the products is even the Robe Pointe and LEDWash units, which are now a couple of years older, are still working hard and produce huge effects. We were the first with BMFL in Australia as well, and as usual they didn’t miss a beat, and are still desired by designers with their huge output and range of effects”
