The Rigger (Safety and Operations) will have specific responsibilities for the rigging of circus equipment in NICA’s purpose built training spaces including taking responsibility for the maintenance, care and safety issues of rigging and training related equipment and spaces. The position may be called upon to design or assist with the design of rigging for specific purposes.
It is expected that the role will encompass daily rigging duties and responsibilities (with the support of a full time technical rigger), and equipment maintenance.
This position will work closely with the Head of Circus Studies and the Operations Manager (Facilities and Resources).
The role provides advice and practical application to NICA in terms of its responsibilities to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). The position aims to provide coordination on a daily basis over the workplace including training spaces and production activities:
- General day to day safety supervision in the NICA training and workspaces including rigging requirements for speciality training and maintenance of equipment
- Performing safety inductions for all staff and students
- Assist with annual maintenance of equipment and rig from a OHS perspective
- Performing rigging and safety duties on shows from time to time
