HP Production Australia Pty Ltd is producing the award-winning and internationally acclaimed theatrical production Harry Potter and the Cursed Child- Parts One and Two at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne, Australia.
We are looking for a fabulous Show Rigger to join our Harry Potter Team in Melbourne. Our ideal candidate shall be capable and skilled in rigging and harness work on a first-class, commercial, live theatrical production.
Key Functions Include:
• Assist in production maintenance, safety requirements and performance duties.
• Work on the setup & load out of the production equipment as required.
• Create paperwork and update plots/rosters/checklists so the production to be remounted at a later date.
• Assist in supervising all technical aspects of the production including documentation, reports, maintenance, rehearsals and performances of the production.
• Ensure that all aspects of the performer-flying items and associated rigging are maintained and presented at performances to the highest professional standards. This includes all flying harnesses, dyneema flying cable and all associated hardware.
• In conjunction with stage management and the Head Mechanist, establish and maintain regular communication with flown performers in regards to their safety.
• Assist with and perform mechanist cues as part of show plot.
• Ensure the smooth and cost-effective operation of rigging in the technical department.
• Ensure the Production is presented and run as it was rehearsed.
• Attend meetings, performances, rehearsals, training and other calls as rostered and directed.
• Liaise immediately with company management about any safety, staff or conduct of work concerns.
• Liaise with stage management, company management, heads of department and other crew along with the Australian Technical Director to ensure the smooth operation of the production.
• Other duties as directed.

Requirements
• Significant experience in rigging and harness work on theatrical productions.
• Demonstrated understanding and experience with safety systems in the theatre.
• Working at Heights or other rigging tickets would be well-regarded but not essential.
• Relevant certificates, qualifications, or training in rigging and harness work, or similar discipline or equivalent experience.
