Review: RF Venue RF PA Extension Kit

By Bill Di Paolo

Wireless technology has long been trusted for microphones, in-ear monitors, and control systems, yet full-range program audio distribution in live sound remains overwhelmingly dependent on copper and fiber. While wired infrastructure is proven and predictable, it introduces significant logistical challenges in temporary applications, historic venues, and large-format events where long cable runs are time-consuming, expensive, and/or simply impractical.

The new RF Venue RF PA Extension Kit is designed to bridge this gap. Rather than re-purposing microphone or IEM technology, the company has developed a purpose-built wireless system for transporting line-level PA signals. Operating in the 470 to 506 MHz UHF band, it delivers full-range analog FM audio with professional stability, onboard delay compensation, and a workflow that mirrors a traditional wired connection.

This article evaluates the RF PA Extension Kit across multiple real-world deployments: a theatrical production at the Rome Capitol Theatre in upstate New York, a public town hall meeting in a large gymnasium, and controlled distance and obstruction testing in a shop environment.
